Floki Costume Guide: The Armor and Details That Define It

A useful Floki costume guide has to separate the photographed outfit from what the current product page actually lists. The silhouette depends on a woven leather cuirass, a long tunic, layered waist pieces, an intentionally uneven arm setup, fitted pants, tall greaves, and footwear. These parts need to be planned as one dressing system because the thickness and position of one layer changes the fit of the next.

This review follows the active SokolArmory Floki costume listing. It uses the written contents, current option labels, and visible construction in the gallery. It does not rely on the page’s “exact copy” wording, prices, production estimates, licensing assumptions, or protective claims.

What the written costume description includes

The description currently names eight components:

  1. Cuirass with shoulders
  2. Linen tunic worn underneath
  3. Skirt
  4. One right bracer
  5. One right glove
  6. Leather pants
  7. Greaves
  8. Boots

The same page says the leather work uses coloring, engraving, molding, and artificial aging. It also warns that handmade items can vary slightly in color. Those statements describe the listing at a general level. They do not establish the material or finish of every component, so confirm any detail that matters to a specific order.

Compare the written list with the live selector

The current selector offers sizes S, M, L, and XL. Its purchase labels include Full payment, Installment 50%, Installment 33%, Woven leather cuirass, Linen tunic, Skirt, Bracers, Bracers (pair), Leather pants, Viking shoes, and Viking shoes (pair).

Several labels do not map cleanly to the eight-part description. The description names a cuirass with shoulders, while the selector says woven leather cuirass. It specifies one right bracer and one right glove, while the selector offers bracers and bracers (pair) but no separate glove label. It lists greaves and boots, while the selector shows Viking shoes in singular and pair forms and no greaves option.

Do not infer quantities or substitutions from the photographs. For a full costume, ask for the current packing list. For one component, copy the exact selector label into your message and request a current photograph of everything included with that option.

The cuirass creates the main surface pattern

The most recognizable construction feature is the dark torso armor made from many narrow interlaced or overlapping leather sections. The photographed cuirass extends over the shoulders and sits close to the upper body. Its irregular texture and dark finish supply most of the costume’s visual weight.

Fit the cuirass over the actual tunic. Take a full breath, sit upright, reach forward, rotate the torso, and raise both arms. Check the neckline, underarms, lower ribs, and bottom edge. The shoulder sections should move without pressing into the neck or pulling the torso off center.

The live option name “woven leather cuirass” may refer to the photographed torso-and-shoulder assembly, but the page does not explicitly explain whether every shoulder strap or decorative section is included with a separate cuirass order. Confirm the complete component and its attachment points before choosing an individual part.

The wider armor collection provides other examples of leather construction. Specifications from another item should not be transferred to this costume.

Choose and measure the tunic first

The written contents identify the underlayer as a linen tunic, and Linen tunic also appears in the live selector. The gallery shows long olive sleeves extending beneath the cuirass and bracer. The visible sleeve length matters because this costume deliberately leaves portions of the arms uncovered.

Test the tunic by itself before adding armor. Reach overhead, cross the arms, bend the elbows, and sit. Excess fabric under the cuirass can create folds at the shoulders and ribs. A sleeve that pulls tight at the elbow will feel even more restricted once a bracer is fastened over it.

SokolArmory’s measurement guidance says customers choose their usual clothing or shoe size when ordering and receive detailed measurement instructions by email after payment. Follow those item-specific instructions and measure over the intended base layers rather than adding an unrequested allowance.

The skirt connects the torso and pants

The skirt is named in both the description and selector. In the gallery, short uneven panels sit below the cuirass and overlap the top of the pants. This layer breaks up the waistline and helps connect the dark torso armor with the brown lower half.

Fit the skirt after the cuirass. Sit, take a long step, climb stairs, and kneel. The upper edge should not push the cuirass upward, and the panels should separate across the thighs without folding under the body. Ask whether the selected skirt includes its visible belt, straps, or closures; the current selector label alone does not answer that question.

Plan the asymmetric right-arm pieces carefully

The written contents are specific: one right bracer and one right glove. The gallery supports this uneven arrangement, showing a guarded right forearm and a fingerless leather glove while the opposite hand and arm are treated differently.

The live selector introduces uncertainty by offering Bracers and Bracers (pair), with no glove option. Ask whether “Bracers” means one piece, whether it is made for the right arm, and whether the photographed glove is included with Full payment. If you choose the pair option, confirm that both pieces share the same construction or whether one is designed differently for the costume.

Measure over the tunic sleeve. Check the widest forearm point, wrist, and usable length between the wrist joint and elbow crease according to the maker’s instructions. After fastening the bracer and glove, bend the elbow fully, rotate the forearm, flex the wrist, and grip the intended costume prop. Keep both joints clear.

Leather pants affect every lower-body measurement

Leather pants appear in both the written list and selector. The gallery shows a fitted brown lower garment beneath the skirt and greaves. Because pants sit under several other components, choose their size before finalizing the waist and calf layers.

Test sitting, crouching, kneeling, and a long stride. Check the seat, knees, inner thighs, and waistband. The pants should not drag the skirt downward or bunch heavily inside the greaves. If you plan to wear an additional base layer underneath, include that thickness when following the measurement instructions.

Clarify greaves, boots, and Viking shoes

The written contents separately name greaves and boots. The photographs show tall laced brown greaves over footwear, with the lower edges extending toward the ankles. The selector, however, offers Viking shoes and Viking shoes (pair) and does not list greaves.

Before ordering a lower-leg component, ask three direct questions:

  • Are the photographed greaves included with Full payment?
  • Can the greaves currently be ordered separately even though they are absent from the selector?
  • What is included with Viking shoes versus Viking shoes (pair)?

Put on the pants and chosen footwear before fitting the greaves. Walk, use stairs, crouch, and kneel. Check clearance at the ankle, boot top, calf, and below the knee. No stiff edge should cross a bending joint.

Build the costume in a repeatable order

A consistent dressing sequence makes fit problems easier to locate:

  1. Put on any base layer, then the linen tunic and leather pants.
  2. Add the footwear and confirm ankle movement.
  3. Fit the cuirass and shoulder sections over the tunic.
  4. Position the skirt without forcing the cuirass upward.
  5. Attach the right glove and bracer, or the confirmed arm configuration.
  6. Fit the greaves over the pants and above the footwear.
  7. Repeat breathing, reach, sitting, stairs, kneeling, and walking tests.

Photograph the front, sides, and back after moving. Look for a twisted shoulder attachment, a skirt that has shifted, uneven greave height, or a bracer that has migrated toward the wrist. Correct the spacing and attachment order before tightening every strap.

What to confirm before checkout

  • What exactly is included with Full payment today?
  • Does woven leather cuirass include the photographed shoulder sections?
  • Does Bracers mean one right bracer, and is the glove included?
  • How does Bracers (pair) differ from the written one-right-bracer configuration?
  • Are greaves available separately?
  • What arrives with Viking shoes and Viking shoes (pair)?
  • Which visible props are excluded?

If the live options do not match the configuration you need, the custom-order process explains how to send references and project details. The broader costume collection can help compare silhouettes, but only the current Floki listing and direct confirmation should determine this order’s contents.

The costume works best when the tunic, cuirass, skirt, arm pieces, pants, greaves, and footwear are fitted as connected layers. Resolve the selector wording first, then measure over the real underlayers and test the complete dressing order before an event.
